Statue of Liberty Tour
People often ask us about a Statue of Liberty tour. Lady Liberty is truely one of New York’s, and the United State’s, great icons. Thanks, France!
A Statue of Liberty tour can be very time consuming. It generally takes the better part of half-a-day. Since 9/11, visitors are no longer allowed to go up to the crown, only to the top of the pedestal.
What we like to do as an alternative Statue of Liberty tour is to take the (free! ) Staten Island Ferry. The Staten Island Ferry sails right past the Statue of Liberty twice, once on the way over to Staten Island and once on the way back. In addition to great views of the Statue from the Ferry, there are great views of the Manhattan skyline, New York Harbor, even the Brooklyn Bridge.
The total time to see the Statue of Liberty from the Staten Island Ferry is between 1 and 1 1/2 hours, depending on when the last ferry left. There are places to sit on the ferry, restrooms and a snack shop. The Staten Island Ferry is not only a great experience, but a great New York experience! Everyone we take loves it. Oh yes, did I mention that it is free!
So as we are working together on an itinerary for your New York City tours with us, let’s discuss taking the Staten Island Ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. You’re going to love it!
